Fall Sprint Series FINAL!

Series information

We will offer two courses on this most excellent urban orienteering venue: intermediate, and advanced (details below). All courses will have timed controls. Maps will be uploaded to Route Gadget afterwards, so be sure to bring your GPS device if you have one!

Please register ASAP as maps will be printed in the day(s) before the race.

LOCATION

We'll be keeping things civilized this weekend, so the registration and sign-on will happen at Starbucks on campus: the location just north across the street from the Olympic Oval (across from the big red paper-clip-ish sculpture thing). There is also a Starbucks in the bookstore but this is the WRONG location. Don't go there.

Because it's the 2017 Sprint Series Finale, we'll have some prizes and hopefully will provide some refreshments. Or you can reward all your hard work with the foofy coffee of your choice afterwards. :P

PARKING

The two cheapest lots on campus are Lot 10 and Lot 11. By no accident, they are also the closest two lots to the meeting point in Starbucks. They cost $7 for the day or $5 if you have >2 people in the car (and if there's an attendant there, which there may not be on Sunday). You can park right next to Starbucks on campus in Lot 11. Lot 10 is just across Collegiate Blvd. There is a parking map here. Both lots are best accessed from 32 Ave. NW, which comes off Crowchild or Shaganappi and runs E-W across the north edge of campus.

There is also free parking on Sundays just north from campus across 32 Ave. NW in Research Park. On-street parking through research park is free on Sunday unless you get too close to the Brentwood LRT Park & Ride. The best spot is along 33 St. NW, just across from campus. There is a pedestrian light across 32 Ave.

You can also take the C-Train and get off at University station. It's about a 12 min walk from the station to the Starbucks.

LIVELOX RACE TRACKING

We'll be testing out a new GPS Orienteering Tracking tool called LiveLox. This is an app that allows live tracking for race events, specifically orienteering, and could be a really cool addition to even our local race series. But we need to know how user friendly it is, so we're going to give it a test run at UofC this weekend.

If you have a phone that you can run with, we'd love it if you would try running the LiveLox event on it while you're on the course. Instructions on how to install and run LiveLox are posted here. You'll need to make an account, but it's quick and free, so not too much trouble.

You can access the LiveLox event here: https://www.livelox.com/Events/Show/29506/FWOC-Fal...
