Organizer: Teresa (Event Director)

UPDATED INFO:

Come and enjoy some awesome orienteering in the DAYLIGHT (all the better to see your costumes).  The course involves some steep hills up and down which will be slushy and/or muddy and possibly icy.  Cleats/shoes with good grip are recommended.  The road is an option if you want to avoid the steep downhill, missing just one control.   The top open part of the park was quite dry on Friday.

We will meet in the parking lot at the bottom of the hill on the south side of the river and railway tracks.  If you are coming from the north, you can park on the north side of the river and walk across the bridge.

Don't forget

  • sign up here for a map
  • (optional) your retro gear!  There WILL be a prize for the person wearing the best retro outfit.
  • a twoonie
  • a headlamp may still be helpful if you expect to be running close to 8pm (course closing time)
  • have fun
  • the upper part of the park is a popular off-leash dog walking area

A note about the map:

The map was made some time in the distant past.  The actual maps we will be using were found in an orienteer's basement.  If you are familiar with the current Edworthy map, you will notice the old ones have a lot less detail, especially in the vegetation.  Remarkably (or perhaps not) all the control features remain in-tact.

Retro Night!  We will be running on some retr-O maps of Edworthy Park and there will be a prize for the best retro orienteering outfit!

Should be plenty of daylight.

Further details including exact meeting spot will be posted here by Monday 9th March.
