Sunday AM Fall Series Event #5 - SAIT-Riley Park - Sprint Championships Fall Sprint Series

Sprint Club Championships:

For this years Club Sprint Championships there will be 3 courses on the SAIT/Riley Park Map. Come out for some "fast and furious" sprint style orienteering courses! Parking will be in the Riley Park Wadding Pool Parking area. (See map below) Courses will open at 10:00 am for participants over 13 years old. Kids 12 and under won't be starting until 11:00 to allow adult traffic safety monitors to run their courses and then assume their safety post!

Registration is open from 9:45 am to 11:15 am (kids 12 and under running course 1 need to start between 11:00 and 11:30)

Course are open from 10:00 am -12:30 pm

You will need to sign up for the course according to your age category to be eligible for prizes in the competitive categories. You can also sign up in an open category that is designated for each course as well if you would prefer to run a shorter course.

Course 1 -Beginner/Novice:

-Under 9 male and female (born 2010 or later)

-9-10 male and female (born 2008 or 2009)

-11-12 males and females (born 2006 or 2007)

-Open Beginner

-Open Novice

Course 2- Intermediate:

-13-14 male and female (born 2004 or 2005)

-15-16 male and female (born 2002 or 2003)

-65+ male and female

-Open Intermediate

-Open Short Advanced

Course 3-Advanced:

-17-21 male and female

-21+ male and female

-35+ male and female

-45+ male and female

-55+ male and female

Registration will be next to the Riley Park Wadding Pool parking lot right near the finish are of all courses. There will be a 200m walk from the parking area to the start where you will get your map!

**Please note that all courses will be going up onto the SAIT campus. There are road crossings within the campus and a C-train crossing. There are 2 mandatory crossing points on Course 1 and there will be 3 minor road crossings on Course 1. All road crossings will have Adult traffic monitors for Course 1. Please discuss this with your younger children! (There will be no mandatory crossing points for Course 2,3 but standard sprint rules for out of bound areas do apply!)

**Course 1 will be slightly more challenging than a typical course 1 in that some short legs do not follow linear features which makes orienting the map very important!

Fall Series Sunday

This year's fall series will consist of 7 races locally in Calgary. In addition we also be hosting an 8^th race a Forest event At Rumsey in honor of Adrian Zissos.

This year’s fall series will track race results for all Fall Season pass holders For all events .The top 4 race events for each Participant will be used to determine overall results. Results will be handicapped so everyone has an opportunity to win.

• Schedule Sunday morning 10:00AM-12:00PM
• Fall Series consists of 8 events. 5 sprints and 3 forests(Proposed).
• Middle event for Club championship at the Ranch at Fish Creek.
• Sprint event for Club championship to be held at SAIT and Riley Park.
• Rumsey Event in honor of Adrian Zissos
• All participants must be members of the association for 2018.

• November 11 Sprint Championship SAIT-Riley Park
• November 18 Mount Royal / UofC
• November 25 Carburn Park

Fees for the 7 event are as follows. Rumsey event will have its own fee structure.

A) For people who opt into the combined race competition( All races are tracked, and there best 4 handicap races will be used to determine their overall result)

•$20.00/family for the fall series + $5.00/map. 4 events are needed for the series. $40.00 will be charged to these participants up front , which includes 4 races, any additional races would be $5.00 each.

B) Not participating in overall series Races( will not be handicapped and you are not eligible for the overall series)

•$10.00 / map for each event. For new people this will also include a membership which will expire at the end of 2018.

C)SOGO Level 3- No charge ( included in their registration fees)

D)All other SOGO Participants -$5.00 / map with no commitment to enter series.
