For newcomers and beginners who want to try orienteering we have free sign up and Alberta Orienteering Association one-day memberships available for this event. Just show up and dress for the weather, including good footwear ( e.g runners, trail or hiking shoes).

MANDATORY PRE-REGISTRATION INFORMATION for the Foothills Members' Timed SI Courses

Course Planner's Notes: Come run around the beautiful Sandy Beach and River Park this Saturday morning. Fast running, lots of controls, and plenty of joyful dogs (it's a very popular dog walking area). There are no thistles or long grasses to contend with - I promise! Courses lengths: Intermediate: 2.9 km and Advanced Long: 5.5 km.

Please watch for bikes when on the pathways and off-leash dogs throughout the area. The Advanced course requires crossing several residential streets. Please obey all trail closures -- some of these prohibited routes are noted on the map using a purple/red X. The river and some of the fences are mapped as uncrossable. Cross the river only using the footbridge.

  • Intermediate: ~2.9km+ with a few hill climbs and controls on or near trails.
  • Advanced Long: ~5.5km+ with more hill climbs and controls requiring more careful navigation and route choices.

You must pre-register for these timed courses by 9AM THE DAY BEFORE the event following the instructions below.

No onsite registration or membership signup will be provided.
