TNT #12 Lake Bonavista Results Toques & Training series
February 18th 2025 6:00pm - February 19th 2025 8:00pm
Organizer: Jennifer Alexander (Organizer)
Thank you to Gabe, a first timer!, for course planning and map creation! Thanks too to Jennifer for organizing the event.
This week's event will be held on a new map in Lake Bonavista! Get ready to embark on an exciting adventure through two of Calgary's most scenic and vibrant communities. Nestled amidst beautiful parks, winding pathways, and lush green spaces, Lake Bonavista and Parkland offer the perfect backdrop for an exhilarating day of exploration and navigation. Whether you're a seasoned orienteer or a first-timer looking for some outdoor fun, this event promises a unique challenge that tests your map-reading skills and endurance.
It’s a standard point-to-point that is 7 kms with 18 controls. Of course, you can choose to make it shorter if you like. Conditions are good. Packed snow on trails and mostly cleared sidewalks and pathways; however, wear shoes with good traction, studded shoes are best for these conditions.
FWOC is offering TNTs (Toques and Training Series) again this year. You must be a current member of FWOC (or another Canadian orienteering club - COC Member) to participate. You only have to pay once through Interpodia / 2M, and you will be sent participant information including exact location each week.
Details:
- Days of the week. 2024-2025 TNTs will usually run on both Tuesday and Wednesday evenings from 6 pm to 8 pm.
- Social Option. The organizer may host a social gathering after the event, usually either Tuesday evening or Wednesday evening. Details for this will be on the webpage and in the email to participants. The Social could be at the organizer's house or at a nearby cafe or pub.
- Family Pricing Option: To encourage families to participate, FWOC is planning to provide a family pricing option (save 40% for two or more members of a family who live in the same household) for the series of TNTs.
- Cost: $24 / person for the series (or family pricing option for family members in the same household).
- You need to register (and pay) in advance online.
- The minimum number of events is 12, and we hope to offer up to 15. You can participate in as many as you like. Even if you only get to 5 events, it's a pretty good deal!
- All events will be put on Maprun so you can go any day after the start of the event (up to a year).
- The location, PDF of the map, and maprun details will be sent via email to all registered participants.
- If you need a map printed for you, please indicate that on the registration form.
- You need to purchase your club membership for 2025 to participate.
