Elbow Bluffs B-Meet - RESULTS! Forest Event
July 27th 2025 10:00am - 2:00pm
Organizers: Jan Rossiter (Event Director), Kitty Jones (Controller)
Map: Elbow Bluffs
Thank you to all participants who braved the rain, mud and ankle deep marshes - your enthusiastic participation made the Elbow Bluffs event as exciting and adventurous as promised!
Special thanks to Kitty, Laura, Brent, Suzanne, Teresa, Gavan, Marsha and Marion for volunteering in the less than comfortable conditions.
Come join us on Sunday July 27th and explore the trails and terrain features to the east of the popular Fullerton Loop hiking trail. Courses will take participants through a range of terrain, including steep slopes, shallow marshes and forest with deadfall. Don’t let the tricky bits discourage you, as the courses will explore hidden spurs, streams, saddles, gullies and viewpoints overlooking the Elbow River.
Courses:
- Novice - TD2: 2.5km, Total Climb approx. 40m. Not suitable for complete beginners. You should be able to orient yourself and the map to North. We suggest under 12 children be shadowed by an adult carrying bear spray, unless they are quite experienced.
- Intermediate - TD3: 3.0km, Total Climb approx. 105m. You need some understanding of contours.
- Advanced Short - TD5: 4.2km, Total Climb approx. 170m. A shorter version of the Long Advanced course. Minimizes but does not entirely avoid steep climbs and descents.
- Long Advanced TD5: 5.4km, Total Climb approx. 260m. The most technically difficult course.
