RESULTS WEO #18 - Hull's Wood Wednesday Evening series
September 9th 2026 6:30pm - 8:00pm
Organizers: Mark Astridge (Event Director), Karin Gerritsen (Assistant)
Map: Fish Creek - Hull's Wood / Bow Valley Ranche
Event Notes:
- Meet at Hull’s Wood parking lot. Start/Finish are a short walk across the road (Bow Bottom Trail SE)
- Everyone must return by 20:00 and check in at the download station, regardless of whether you finish your course. If you do not check in at the download station, we will assume you are lost and start looking for you!
- It will begin to get dark just before 20:00, so if you will be out on the later side, consider bringing a headlamp
- Some of the trails on the slopes are not particularly accurate, so use more features.
- There are three courses:
- Beginner (2.0km): For those new to the sport. Enjoy a nice outing in Fish Creek
- Intermediate (2.7km): For those looking for a safer navigational challenge with less distance.
- Advanced (4.8km: A long course with lots of route choices (and a map flip—so bring a map bag).

Course Selection
When registering, there are several courses to choose from:
- Beginner: the easiest and shortest course, suitable for beginner orienteers and families; simple navigation; approx 1.5-2kms, staying on trails.
- Intermediate: requires orienteering/navigation skills; approx 2-3.5kms
- Advanced: the longest and potentially most challenging course, approx 4 kms (or more). On some maps, organizers may suggest cutting off some controls to allow participants to run a Short Advanced option. There will be separate results if there is a short advanced option.

It is a great way to meet more members, and some roles help improve your orienteering skills! If you would like to help out in any way - no experience necessary - please reach out to [email protected] or click on the Volunteer Link below.
