Join us for quality urban orienteering while enjoying the lovely views over the Bow River and west to the Rocky Mountains.
Parking, registration, and the start/finish is at the south end of Silver Springs Blvd. NW, where the road meets the river valley across from Value Village. From Crowchild, head south on Silver Springs Gate NW, turn left (south) at the first lights by Value Village, park about 100m down on the street.
Course 1 (Beginner, 1:5000 Scale) is a ~1.4 km circuit along easy to follow paths with obvious route choice; no road crossings; great for younger kids and newcomers.
Course 2 (Novice, 1:5000 Scale) is a ~1.9 km circuit mostly along obvious features like paths with some route choice; controls are all near but may be just off major features like paths; no road crossings; great if you are new to reading orienteering maps.
Course 3 (Intermediate / Advanced Short, 1:7500 Scale) is a ~4.2 km course that features more complicated route choice and covers much more terrain; navigation sometimes relies on contours or more subtle features; somewhat hilly (down and up Bowmont twice); crosses residential (low traffic) streets.
Course 4 (Advanced Long, 1:7500 Scale) is a ~6.0 km course that features extensive route choice and often avoids routes along obvious features; navigation often relies on contour or more subtle features; quite hilly (down and up Bowmont three times); crosses both low and higher traffic streets (at crosswalks).
